LSD question?

I was just curious for those of you who have LSD,(type r,quaffe,kaaz,etc.)If you jack up the front end and put it in gear and spin one wheel, do both wheels spin the same direction? I did this to mine yesterday and they spun different directions. I have a CTR tranny w/ LSD and I assumed they would be locked to the same direction.

As far as I know, that is not casued due to the LSD but to the tranny gearing. What you have described is an attitude of my car too which is not LSD equipped.

Odd. On a Chevy if you jack up and spin one wheel of a positraction 8 or 10 bolt rear they will spin the same way unlike an open diff.

What would be an easy test to do on a tranny to prove it had an LSD?

maybe this will work. remove one brake caliper and let it hang leave the other one on have someone hit the brake and see if you can spin the other rotor. I verified mine by checking the sleeves the axle goes into. I didn't want the shop switching my qualife with a Type R or KAAZ.

I believe that clutch type and gear types behave diferently. I know that my Quaife behaves like you described.

Well I asked because I was scared that maybe the clutches were bad(if possible). Like 5 Liter Eater said, I was thinking that it would be the same as a posi-rearend, both at once. I feel better now knowing that mine acts like everyone elses LSD. Thanks.

I have a ITR and it too spins opposite directions, but if you have someone hold the other wheel at the same time they will both try to spin the same direction. Our diffs are gear driven though, not clutch type like the Kazz.

The clutches will lock up only under a load and both tires will spin. Try putting water under one tire and keeping the other dry and do a burnout.. thats how I would test one if I had doubts about it.
